I grew up in Clearwater Florida. My mother was an elementary school teacher and my father was a Chief Engineer for the Waterman steamship line. In school I gravitated towards music. I graduated from Dunedin High School and then the University of South Florida with a degree in Music Education. I taught in the Pinellas County school system for eighteen years and have over twenty years as a professional fundraising consultant. My wife Susan is a professor at Southeast Missouri State University. We are the proud parents of three boys, one girl and have three wonderful granddaughters.
